Good Friday Crucifixions etc.

I guess it's natural for people to make things complicated, so some do these reenactments to assuage their guilt over things they did in the past or to provide "protection" for their families against evil or even ill health. People who do this have to know that Jesus already died for our sins and conquered death. We've been made worthy through his blood shed on the cross... making this sort of "penance" completely unnecessary.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. ~ 1John 1:9 (NIV)***(AP Photo/Aaron Favila)

Yes, it is as simple as that. The bible is God's words that answer ALL our questions! No need for gurus, self-help books, or lucky charms. No other "religion" has prophecies that have come/are coming true NOR proof of healing miracles. Through His stripes, we are ALL healed! Happy Resurrection, sister in Christ :)
That's right. Happy Resurrection too...
You are absolutely correct.
People feel like they have to work for their salvation.
No matter how hard they nails themselves to the cross- The Bible says "all your good works are but filthy rags before the Father" it's only when the Father looks at us and sees the Blood of His son that we are saved and set free.

I totally agree with this entry ;) you don't have to beat yourself up and crucify yourself later on just to show that you've regretted all the sins you've made in the past. we are human beings so it's really a natural for us to commit mistakes in our everyday life. So what's the point really in taking all the whooping when you're doing it just coz?that after the lent, you're back in your "sinful routines?"
Why can't we all just pray, move on then try to make our lives better?and try not to do the same sins over and over again?
